Superior Yield and Quality
The animal tissue and small organism packs use magnetic bead technology for the nucleic acid extractions. The magnetic beads have a lot of surface area and are moving around in the homogenate throughout the initial incubation period, so they isolate high quantities of nucleic acids with ease in half the time of spin columns. They also remove most of the centrifugation steps required with spin columns.
Additional reagents for high quality yield that you typically need to purchase separately are included in the kits: Proteinase K, RNase A (in DNA isolation kit), DNase I (in RNA isolation kit), and FoamBlocker. The result is a high quality DNA or RNA product.
The plant and fungi packs use precipitation to extract DNA. The precipitation process can be started in just minutes.
PrecisionPak vs Other Methods
Comparison of PrecisionPak MAGneat DNA extraction kit and “Qompetitor” kit. Purified DNA from 30mg of various tissue samples were extracted either using PrecisionPak MAGneat DNA kit or “Qompetitor” kit, following manufacturer’s instructions. Extracted DNA samples were run on a 1% Agarose gel. M – 1 kb ladder.

Purified RNA from 30mg of various tissue samples or whole Drosophila were extracted using PrecisionPak MAGneat RNA or “Qompetitor” extraction kit, following manufacturer’s instructions or using the Trizol extraction method. One-step RT-qPCR amplification from RNA isolated using PrecisionPak MAGneat Animal tissue kit. Total RNA was extracted from chicken pectoral muscle and used as template for the dynamic range setup targeting GAPDH fragment. The reaction was set up using eight 10-fold serial dilutions (200 ng – 200 fg, six replicates at each concentration) of chicken total RNA. The amplification plot shows reproducibility and accuracy across a wide dynamic range.

Comprehensive Kits
The PrecisionPak provides everything you need: all the buffers and reagents and the protocol for high quality and high yield. The PrecisionPak includes additional enzymes such as Proteinase K to facilitate tissue digestion, RNase A (in DNA extraction kit) to remove the contaminating RNA, and DNase I (in RNA extraction kit) to remove the contaminating DNA. The kits also include an optimized protocol.
Save Time
Use of magnetic beads instead of spin columns eliminates the need for multiple centrifugation steps, which are both tedious and time-consuming. Our magnetic rack assembly enables you to batch process up to 8 samples in a rack. The magnetic field can be applied for wash steps and removed for binding steps, without the sample tubes ever leaving the rack. This saves time and provides convenience.
No Organic Solvents
The buffers and the reagents in the kit do not use toxic organic solvents. There is no need to overcrowd the fume hood as the procedure can be done on the benchtop. There are no separate containers required to collect the toxic chemicals and you do not have to spend money on the disposal of toxic wastes.
